Over the years there have been a good many famous people that have tried to crossover into the world of poker. This is from the draw of fame that comes with being a top level poker player and winning that all important World Series of Poker main event bracelet.

Few of the celebrities have managed to even make a decent run. When the World Series of Poker is televised each year you can see a plethora of celebrity players in the ranks, most of which are eliminated in the first few rounds. However, one that you will find outlasting a good many times is the incomparable Jennifer Tilly.

Tilly began her career as an actress of screen and stage and the object of affection of many a men in this world. Her stellar looks and sweet voice draw men by the millions to her movies and television shows.

After getting bit by the poker bug Tilly began pursuing fame in the circle of the best poker players in the world. This was not hard as she has been dating poker great Phil Laak since 2005.

Over the course of her somewhat new career in cards Tilly has been seen at a good many final tables and has won a World Series of Poker bracelet for a ladies event, and has competed in quite a few WPT Events

She managed to outlast 600 other players in the 2005 World Series of Poker No Limit Hold ‘Em Ladies event to claim her first major victory since starting poker.

This was a boost to the new player and she dug in, putting all of her energy into the making of a great poker career.

That same year she was the winner at the World Poker Tour Ladies invitational event held at the Bicycle Casino. This event was massive and gained national attention. She beat thousands of entrants into the tournament and walked away with yet another large cash prize as well as bragging rights.

Later in 2005 she stated that she was more interested in pursuing her career as a professional poker player than acting. This was strange coming from the lifelong actress but it did not surprise the people that she had played against.

With her rather sweet voice and calm demeanor it is easy to dismiss her and maybe even underestimate her. This is where she will claim victory as she hunts for that all important weakness and exploits it.

Following some other tournament play and television appearances Tilly gave up on the dream of being a superstar of poker. She stated in late 2008 that she will still play poker but has decided against treating it as a career.
